| | Yann Tiersen - "La Valse Des Vieux Os" | ] | A strange week I have had.
I seem to have a delayed response to everything, and it usually takes me a while to realize what's going on.
Work's been blah today. I got plenty of sleep, but I can only seem to find enough energy to stay awake.
Went for a round with a rude lady on the phone today. During the previous two summers I've worked, I've never had to deal with any really difficult people, so it came as a bit of a surprise today.
The rain... well, it's been nice today.
I started a list last night. I wrote down all the things about myself that I want to change. No, not my hair color or my dumpy mid-section... but my apathy, my tendency to be distant...
We'll see how it goes. |

| | Glenn Miller Orchestra - "The Twelve Days Of Christmas" | ] | You Know You're Addicted to Photoshop When...
You see the world with one eye and stock images with the other.
When asked what the primary colors are, answer "RGB"
You get the urge to 'fix' poor quality images.
You start teaching your significant other to use this "evil" program and in the space of one afternoon convince them it's at least only quasi-evil in the face of PSP.
You ramble about a breakthrough in the piece you're doing to people who have no idea in hell what you're talking about
You ponder the meaning of existence without layers.
You never leave the house without a digicam and notepad.
You drop something and your brain tells you automatically "Ctrl-Z! Ctrl-Z!". When you realize it won't work, your brain tells you "Ctrl-Alt-Z! Ctrl-Alt-Z!"
You're getting dressed for something important and you look in the mirror and realize you would look so much better if you could just tweak the levels a little and apply a slight gaussian blur.
You stop on the street to rant about cheesey effects that should not be on professional posters.
You scream out fonts as they appear on TV.
You have dreams in "glowing edges"
You're standing by the ocean and wondering who used Ocean Ripple.
You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends who are addicted to Photoshop. |

| | Wilco - "Jesus, Etc." | ] | Look! I think I'm gonna update.
What ever will I do? I'm so far behind, and I have so much to say...
I feel so crazy. Ever start thinking about your life... and how you never thought you'd be where you are at the moment? I guess that's one of the great [and crappy] things about life... full of surprises.
I want my job back. [Can't believe I'm saying this.] I wish I could quit yearbook now and just start working every afternoon instead. I mean, I can quit... but that would be a bit crappish of me. I'm gonna go up to the office tomorrow after school to see how things are going. From what I hear, they have a new girl working up there who can't do anything. Maybe I could beg my way back into at least working on Friday afternoons.
I'm finally getting somewhere with my &@#% outside sketch book. I must finish 25 more drawings before the 21st. That's two weeks from today, roughly two drawings a day. Think I can do it? ...I hope so. I'm really enjoying my art classes.
I've gotten lots of great new music lately! I can't believe how great the SP Adore album is. I've also been digging into some of my old stuff over the past month. The only thing I hate is that some of the songs I used to dearly love now remind me so much of people or times in my life that I prefer not to recall.
I want to try something new.
I hope I am in bed by 10 tonight. That would be so awesome...

I took some neat photos this afternoon, and Mama bought me a new purse. Kind of nice to have someone else give me something; I have gotten so used to buying the things I want for myself. I dread when this last paycheck finally runs out. After I buy the new Green Day album, no more impulse buying. I promise. Just food, movies, and gas.
I talked to Josh today. I thought I saw his car at the drug store and called to see if it was him, but no... he's still in Starkville. It was good to catch up though, made him promise to call me next time he was back in Corinth so we could do something.
I'm gonna draw tomorrow afternoon. Really. [After the baby shower...]

| | Glenn Miller Band - "In the Mood" | ] | The lack of driving skills possessed by prissy women in SUV's are going to get the better of me. At least once every day on my trips to and from Northeast, one suddenly appears in my rear view, giving me the sickening feeling that it's about to charge right on up into the bed of my truck.
I had a wonderful quezadilla from Mi Toro in Booneville today, but I ate alone. That wasn't so much fun. I just sat in the back and watched all the kids on the school trip drive their teacher crazy. I would swear it, I know more than half of those kids had on some type of clothing with a John Deere logo blazoned onto it. [To all my friends in other places: Is this a nation-wide trend right now, or is it just some local thing?] It's so tacky...
I made a 99 on my positive/negative space project in Design, and I made a 99 on my eggs in Drawing... YAY. I believe I had the highest grade in both classes. I really don't know why, I saw some work that I thought was just as good as mine.
I really wish people would not mock my chosen field of study. Just because it is art does not mean it is easy.
I have twelve pages of Psychology notes I should be reading over right now. Something tells me I'll end up scanning them once or twice and going in there tomorrow and winging it. Why do I do this?
My goal for the week has nearly been accomplished -- I haven't worn my SCAD shirt to school at all. Just one day left. I probably won't be able to make it. |

Two songs caught my ear today. Funny thing is, they've been on my iPod all along. I'd just never listened to them very closely before.
Quasi's Our Happiness is Guaranteed
Orbiting pods, underwater domes - We fill our tanks with oxygen to step outside our homes. Once it was hard, now it's just routine And I can't tell the difference between people and machine. Love was a problem for our ancestors; It's not such a problem anymore. Breeding as a science proved it has no use at all And it mostly disappeard when we eliminated war. There's comfort and control, it's safe for you and me. News for the surface shows how hard life there can be. Why live in danger? Why live with pain? People from the surface find it hard to explain. And every little thing is strictly monitored; We're given everything we need. Fed by I.V., we rarely need to sleep - There's no pointless dreaming and our happiness is guaranteed.
Badly Drawn Boy's The Shining
Faith pours from your walls, drowning your calls I've tried to hear you're not near Remembering when I saw your face Shining my way, pure timing Now I've fallen in deep, slow silent sleep It's killing me, I'm dying
to put a little bit of sunshine in your life
Soleil all over you Warm sun pours over me Soleil all over you Warm sun
Now this slick fallen rift came like a gift Your body moves ever nearer and you will dry this tear now that we're here And grieve for me not history But now I'm dry of thoughts wait for the rain Then it's replaced, sun's setting
and suddenly you're in love with everything
Soleil all over you Warm sun pours over me Soleil all over you Warm sun

I had a nice day. I took a long nap in my truck this morning after Psychology. I think that morning nap might have to become a habit of mine.

We didn't go see a movie, but we did waste lots of time doing nothing.

I had a marvelous #7 from Arby's tonight.
I spent my whole day at school, and I only needed to be there for one class. I went to Psychology at 9 and learned all about neurotransmitters (!!), then I kept myself occupied until my 11:30 lunch with Tony. De was sick, so English was cancelled... I left school around 1, came home to an empty house, and wasted lots of time online... since that's what I do best.
I listened to all of Green Day's new album on mtv.com... sounds okay. I'll probably end up buying it, just because it's them.
Now I'm sitting here on the love seat in the dark, sinking down in between the two huge cushions. It feels quite nice, and I bet some sleep would feel even better.
I bought a new camera. How shallow... to buy myself something new just to make me feel happy. The worst part... it worked. |
